BRIGHT
LIGHTS HOLIDAY PROGRAM JANUARY 2012
STUDENTS
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the January holiday workshop. All teachers were delighted with your behaviour, focus, social cohesion and participation. As co-ordinator of the program I was extremely pleased with your self-discipline, your sense of enjoyment and spirit of co-operation. Your performance on Thursday evening was amazing considering your time for preparation and stage experience. I enjoyed every moment of your performance. We will work on the back stage noise next workshop.
There were many pleasing factors about this workshop.
- It was exciting to see the growing confidence and skill level of students that have participated in Bright Lights workshops and performances. Group 4 requires a special mention. My wife, Robyn, remarked that your rendition of “Summer Loving” was better and more authentic than the professional group at the Gold Coast we saw perform “Grease” last year. Be warned; there may be a repeat performance.
- I really enjoyed watching the students move up into an older group level and stay confident in their own ability and add even more enthusiasm and excitement to the performance.
- We had quite a few new children to our holiday program and they were wonderful in their participation, sense of enjoyment and their management of new situations.
- Well done to the students who worked through the jitters and nerves? It is never easy being on stage and with each performance these students will grow in skill level and confidence.
TEACHERS
I would like to give special praise to our teachers, Jesse, Alanna, Rani and Ruby. Their expertise, co-operation and professionalism are greatly appreciated. It is so easy to co-ordinate a program when you are surrounded by quality and considerate colleagues. Rebecca was so disappointed she missed this workshop but she will be back in April.
PARENTS
Thank you to all the parents for your support for our program and your attendance at the show. At Bright Lights we are blessed with wonderful parents who not only support us but importantly encourage and support their children. You are truly the best parents on the planet. Thank you for the costumes. I loved the sharks. They were a credit to you. It is never easy to supply costumes on such short notice but unfortunately that is the nature of our holiday program.
APRIL HOLIDAY PROGRAM, 2012
We shall be holding our next holiday program in the April holidays, 2012. This will be held in the second week of the holidays from Monday 16th to Thursday 19th April. Our first 3 days will again be at St Finbarrs and we will conclude with a performance in the Byron Bay Community Theatre on the Thursday.
The cost will be $150 but students who participated in the January workshop and weekly Bright Lights will receive a $10 discount. If you already know your holiday plans and are keen to participate let me know by email and I shall reserve your place. More details will be forwarded to you closer to the event. I shall also decide on a theme asap so that costuming may be less of a drama.

WEEKLY BRIGHT LIGHTS
For any new families or students Bright Lights runs weekly drama and musical theatre classes in Byron and Ballina and weekly drama classes in Mullumbimby and Alstonville. These are for primary students (year 2 to year 6) and secondary students although, at the moment, Alstonville is only primary students.
If you are interested let me know and I shall email you the details.
Enjoy the rest of the holidays and make it safe and happy. We hope to see you in April, if not beforehand.
Cheers,
Brian and the team at Bright Lights
